With striking mountains, numerous mysterious canyons and waterfalls by the dozen, it’s no wonder why Lorestan is known for the most staggering canyons and waterfalls in Iran.
Lorestan Province in west of Iran covers an area of 28,392 square kilometers. The major cities in the province are Khorramabad, Boroujerd, Doroud, Aligoudarz, Kouhdasht, Azna, Aleshtar, Nourabad, and Pol Dokhtar.
The terrain consists chiefly of mountains, with numerous ranges, part of the Zagros range, running northwest to southeast.
The central range has many summits that almost reach the line of perpetual snow.
Between the higher ranges lie many fertile plains and low hilly, well-watered districts.
Oak forest covers the outer slopes of its mountains, together with elm, maple, walnut, and almond trees.
